DAY 38 of 50 – A Little Dirt Never Hurt Anyone

Out in my backyard I have a fabulous playground. It’s hugely popular with the kids, and despite being nearly 30-years-old, it’s still rock solid. I’ve had 3 grown nephews all in it (supposedly chasing their kids around) — and it didn’t even creak.
But since I don’t have any kids of my own, it just doesn’t get as much use as it once did. And I have to admit that I usually just forget about it. For the past few years I’ve known that I needed to put down new weed block and get a truckload of bark brought in. But it seemed a bit overwhelming to me, so I just let it slide.
That is, until Conner came over. Conner Corbin is this great kid in my neighborhood that is getting ready to go on his mission. At age 16, he organized a few of his friends together to create a landscaping business. And they do an AMAZING job too! Conner saved and bought a truck, and saved more and bought all the requisite equipment. I’ve hired him for jobs around the house for the past few years, and he’s always done a perfect job.
So as Spring started last month, I asked him to come Weed & Feed my lawn. And while he was here, he mentioned the playground area (that was looking pretty sad after the long winter). Being a smart (if very young) businessman, he followed-up, got me a quote, made all the arrangements, had the bark delivered, and had his crew show up and do all the shoveling and hauling.
And I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. Sure, it’s just dirt — but doesn’t it look pretty???
