Yesterday I had a
fabulous opportunity to be involved in the Bridal Shower for the daughter of a
dear friend, Michelle Corbin. As Michelle and I talked a few weeks ago, the
idea of the Bridal Shower for DaeNeese grew. One lesson I learned last year is
that friends not only enjoy getting involved, but it is viewed as a tremendous
honor to be invited to be involved in a special occasion like this.
A few phone calls later, there were five of us getting
together to plan this. We had a 1-hour planning meeting, did the
divide-and-conquer on the various pieces of a successful party, and started a
Text String to keep communication going.
It came off
flawlessly. We each had assignments that not only fit our personal “specialty”
but that made it so that it was not only manageable, but actually quite simple
for each of us. Kristin has the perfect home to host. Kristine, Michelle, and I
each brought part of the food/supplies. Jenna (the party planning guru in the
group) designed the invitations and did a FABULOUS job on the decorations. We
each did part, and it was just perfect.
But beyond that, it made it so that ALL of us got to be
involved in this wonderful time in DaeNeese’s life — and we all got to show our
love and friendship to Michelle. And, we got to share in the sisterhood of
women. We got to know each other a little better, got to appreciate each other
a lot better, and had a great time.
